Two goats were spotted wandering around the streets of Philadelphia on Thursday morning. Philly Voice states how reports of the wandering goats began floating in around some time during the wee hours of the morning in the city’s Kensington neighborhood.
A video of the incident—which was initially published to the Citizens App and later picked up by news stations like CBS Philadelphia—shows the responding officers circling around the pair as they meander down the street in between cars.
One officer is then seen having not a little difficulty in coaxing one of the goats into a squad car. Another brief shot is shown of the other animal looking out the back window directly at the camera, defiantly.
“Only in my home town would there be a ‘Goats Taken into Custody’ headline,” comments one user on CBS Local Philadelphia’s tweet of the video.
Believe it or not, strange animal sightings are not unusual to the City of Brotherly Love: A 2015 Philadelphia Magazine article succinctly and appropriately (almost as if this author Google searched for it in order to have examples) titled “10 Surprising Wild Animals Spotted in Philadelphia” details some of the city’s weirder animal encounters, from turkeys to salamanders to even flying squirrels.
CBS Local Philadelphia continues to report how the goats—whose names were confirmed to be Jack and Jill—were safely returned to their unidentified owner.
Where these two goats came from and how they escaped remains unknown. Whether they remain gruff about how unceremoniously they were packed into the squad car also remains unknown.
